A sequential sweeping motion defines these repeaters for the 2 Series F22: the animated effect replaces the stock static lighting on the mirrors. The headlights, taillights, and onboard electronics are not affected by this modification.

Replacement is done by removing the mirror cap, pulling out the existing repeater, and installing the new module.
