The start/stop system was designed to reduce fuel consumption in urban driving, but on an F30, an F10, or an X5 F15, it introduces a noticeable interruption at every restart: a slight jolt, starter noise, a break in airflow. Is the Disable Setting Canceled if the Battery Is Disconnected or Replaced?

It depends directly on the type of module. A button-emulation module must be physically present and connected to act at every startup: disconnecting the battery changes nothing, it resumes its function at the next ignition cycle. A module that works through OBD coding stores the parameter in ECU memory, which survives a power cut, but may require a reset if the battery is replaced and the ECU is reinitialized by the dealer.
