BMW X3 Mirror Caps: Which Part Number for Which Generation?

The first step is to identify your generation with certainty. The F25 and G01 are the most common; the G45 is the latest version. The housings and internal mounts are not shared between these generations, and a wrong part number is immediately obvious. Locate the chassis code in field D.2 of your vehicle registration before placing your order.

On the options side, check whether your X3 has turn signals integrated into the mirror housings: this is common on the G01 and G45. If so, the replacement cap must retain the cable routing and indicator window. Power folding and defrost should also be taken into account. Can Mirror Caps From an X3 G01 Be Fitted to an F25?

No. Between the F25 and the G01, BMW completely redesigned the mirror housing structure. Internal mounting points, dimensions, and cable routing all differ. An F25 cap will not fit a G01, and the other way around. Only the part number designed for your generation guarantees a fit with no modification needed.
