The W221 comes with COMAND NTG 2.5, an older architecture that requires a dedicated adapter box. The W222 moves to NTG 5, which is more open and easier to interface with a modern solution. The C217 (S-Class Coupe) shares the W222 platform, but with possible variations depending on the installed equipment: check the COMAND version on board before ordering.

The choice between wired and wireless remains the main day-to-day comfort factor.
