The 3 Series has gone through nine generations while keeping one constant principle: a balanced body where every line matters. This code is the only reliable criterion for filtering compatible references, especially when several body styles coexist within the same generation.

Can an M3 (F80 or G80) trunk lip fit a standard 3 Series of the same chassis?

Not automatically. Parts approved for the M3 F80 or G80 are designed for the M3 body, which may have mounting or surface specificities that differ from the standard F30 or G20 version. If a product listing mentions only the M3, it is not guaranteed to fit a 320i or 330i of the same chassis.
