On the 3 Series F30, a more recent generation, the shift knob is one of the few direct connections between the driver and the transmission mechanics. This replacement part changes only the look and feel of the gear selector, without affecting the transmission itself or the gear lever boot.

Removing the old shift knob and installing the new one onto the lever shaft makes up the bulk of the job.
